Robo Gals

On the 7th of June, year 6 girls signed a note to learn about female mechatronic engineering. This is a combination of mechanical and electronic engineering. Jack and Tiana came from USQ to teach us about engineering and women in engineering.
We arrived and learnt about the types of engineering. We were given Lego MindstormRobots to manoeuvre through a maze. We programed our robots through a laptop to make its way through the maze. We had to consider the directions the robot would go in, how far the robot went and the angle of rotations. Mechatronic engineering is maths, technology and science.
Only 9.6% of Australian engineers are women. Women are under represented in engineering. We had a fun and exciting day. We learnt to work together to solve problems and look at mistakes as a chance to learn. Thank you to the Tara Library and Ann for organising the day.
