The Tara Shire State College provides students access to
facilities that allow them to study subjects that are not offered at the College
through the Brisbane School of Distance Education. Examples of current and past subjects studied
are: Chemistry, Music, Indonesian, Ancient History, Economics, Physics and
Philosophy & Reason.
Students who enrol in a Distance Education subject are
provided with a Study Coach, who will support and supervise each student during
these lessons. The Study Coach will also
organise any phone conferencing, mailing of assignments as well as all other
support that may be requested from the student.
Most of these Distance Education Courses are a two year
duration and a cost will be incurred before students are enrolled. This amount is paid to the College before the
student is enrolled and forwarded on to School of Distance Education in
Brisbane.
The Study Coach is available during school hours and a
classroom environment has been made available for these students. This classroom is air conditioned and
furnished with computers, desks, and student pigeon holes.
