In 2019 the first Year 11 students will commence using the new Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) system as per the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) guidelines.  This system has significant yet beneficial changes to the way secondary education administers assessment and subject offerings.
A key focus of the new system is on 21st Century Skills which incorporate – Critical thinking, Creative thinking, Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration, ICT Skills and Personal and Social Skills.
If students are aiming for a tertiary entrance pathway then they will now receive an ATAR at the conclusion of their senior schooling.  Students will now sit four pieces of assessment per year.  The biggest change to their assessment will be an external exam at the end of Year 12, similar to those in other states.
